lettuce love

For all of you vegans west of Toronto you probably have heard of lettuce love! Let me start by saying this is one of my favourite Clean eating spots As a vegan. If you need a stronger picture of how much I love Lettuce love, Me and my friend rode our questionably solid bikes for two hours from Mississauga to Burlington to stop at lettuce love!

lettuce love has two locations both on the West End of Toronto.

The first location is in Oakville, 326 Kerr St.

The second location is in Burlington, 399 John Street.

Both locations are closed on Monday but open every other day of the week!

Now, let’s get to the menu!

Soups, chilli and sharing:

The first part of their menu you can find things like vegetable soup chilli and then the more greasy stuff like nachos avocado fries and potato wedges!

For your clean eaters out there you’re in luck. They have a beauty salad a mega salad and a Caesar salad for you! They also have a bunch of bowls and if I can recommend one thing to eat here it would be the bowls. Here you can find your typical Buddha bowls, burrito bowls, felafel bowls, and much more!

Sandwiches and burgers:

Don’t worry if you’re not a solid person there are plenty of sandwiches to go around at lettuce love. You can find a vegan grilled cheese barbeque jackfruit, a California burger, sweet potato burger, and a big batch

Now, lettuce love also has a smoothie bar attached to it and this is my favourite part of the whole entire restaurant it’s called pure love smoothie bar!

Smoothie bar:

If I recommend you try any of these smoothies I recommend the yoga Bliss colada! But you can also find many different flavourings such as the chai spice movie, the blue goddess, your typical strawberry banana, and a pure chocolate love!

And don’t worry you definitely have your smoothie bowls here with the options of a jungle bowl, Açaí bowl, and a blue wave bowl!

Vegan BLT’s

I have to be honest with you. One of the reasons it was so hard for me to switch to a vegan lifestyle is breakfast foods. I mean right?!!! Breakfast can be a very challanging meal for someone who is new to plant-based foods. I mean sure…. we have smoothies, oatmeal, toast etc., but lets be real. YA GIRL NEEDS MORE THAN THREE OPTIONS TO START THE DAY OFF RIGHT.

One morning, after shamefully eating spaghetti at 7 a.m. because I was fed up with my limited options of “breakfast foods,” I thought to myself …. What did I like to eat for breakfast before I became vegan??? and BAM! Vegan BLT’s – or TLT’s (as I like to call them) became one of my breakfast staples.

Now before you jump right into breakfast, I want to add some additional details for you. I have attached websites to the steak seasoning and the vegan mayonnaise as I know that not everyone just has this lying around their kitchen (like I do) or even their closest supermarket. The sites tell you how you can make both of these ingredients so you can enjoy TLT’s as much as I do!

  • 1 Block Super Firm Tofu (680 g)
  • 4 Whole Wheat English Muffins
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons Vegan Margarine (vegetable oil can substitute)
  • 3 to 4 Lettuce Leaves
  • 1 Medium Tomato
  • Steak Seasoning to taste
  • Vegan Mayonnaise to taste

  1. Slice tofu into 4 even blocks. Once divided cut each block into four thin slices.
  2. Add margarine to a large pan and heat medium – high
  3. Once margarine is melted, place tofu into the pan and turn heat up to high.
  4. Season tofu with steak seasoning once it’s frying in the pan.
  5. After 2-3 minutes flip tofu and fry for another 2-3 minutes or until your desired texture.
  6. As tofu is frying, place the English muffins into the toaster
  7. Once tofu is your desired texture remove from pan and set aside.
  8. Take English muffins out of the toaster. Add vegan mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato.

There you have it a TLT (Tofu, Lettuce, Tomato)
